Terms of Use

The whole agreement

Last updated 29 August 2026. Motorfile is made in the UK by Michael Katasi. Using the app means accepting these terms.

What Motorfile is

An app that reads the official DVSA MOT record for a UK vehicle and helps you keep track of what is due. It is a record-keeping tool, not advice.

What it is not

It is not a provenance or finance check. It cannot show outstanding finance, stolen markers or insurance write-offs. Do not rely on it as the only check before buying a vehicle.

The data comes from the DVSA, not from us

MOT and vehicle data is supplied by the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency. We show it as it stands and cannot correct it. If a detail is wrong it is wrong at source and has to be fixed there. Motorfile is not affiliated with the DVSA or the DVLA.

Repair prices are estimates

The prices shown against MOT advisories are typical UK garage rates for the work described. They are not quotes and nobody is bound by them.

Your data is yours, and it is on your device

There is no account and no server holding your vehicles. That means we cannot recover anything for you. Back up your data from the You screen, and keep the file somewhere safe.

Subscriptions

Paid plans are sold through the App Store and charged to your Apple account. They renew automatically unless turned off at least 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel them in your Apple account settings. We cannot cancel a subscription for you, and cannot see that you have. Refunds are handled by Apple.

Liability

Motorfile is provided as it is. We are not liable for a missed MOT, a lapsed policy, an untaxed vehicle, a repair bill or a purchase you regret. Keeping your vehicle legal is your responsibility. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Changes

If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them.
